DTB is regarded as one of the longest running and largest law firms in Croatia. We honed the craft and built our reputation as a law firm specialized in advising clients across the whole gamut of operations relevant to corporate law. Soon we became aware of the rapid development and growing diversity of our clients, as well as the necessity of adapting our legal services to the increasing legal needs of their market operations.
This development marked DTB’s path to success that came from continual testing out and improvement of new legal and technological solutions. In hindsight, it sometimes seems to us that there is no legal issue that we have not already dealt with. Nevertheless, we cannot let years catch up with us. Experience teaches us that contemporary, innovative management of a business organization always gives rise to a new, unknown challenge for our clients, and consequently for us as well. While waiting for this new challenge to emerge, we remain eager to learn what our next project will be.
DTB has come a long way from its establishment to the reputation and status it enjoys today. Partners Saša Divjak and Damir Topić started the law firm in 1994. They were soon joined by Emir Bahtijarević as the third partner in 1998 and their small law firm quickly began to grow. From the very beginning, the three founders shared the same vision and values powering a successful business. In addition to its diligent work and tireless efforts, DTB also recognized the need for regional cooperation. In 2003 it thus became a member of SEE Legal, the first association of its kind in Southeast Europe. Building an international reputation and attracting a growing number of experts, DTB gradually gained specific experience in a growing number of practice areas and became the law firm as we know it – a market leader ready to face various intricate legal problems anew and solve them promptly and competently.
In 2019, DTB, as well as the wider legal community, was taken aback by the sudden death of partner Saša Divjak who left a legacy of unrivalled knowledge and invaluable experience. His strength, vision and achievements have been translated into further successes and new challenges of our law firm. In 2020, the law firm appointed Mario Krka a senior partner. Since his appointment, his surname appears in the law firm’s company name. With the promotion of two female partners, the firm has gained a strong impetus to its further development.
Long-term growth of our law firm would have been much more challenging without the support from and partnership with numerous regional and global law firms and associations. DTB has been actively involved in some of them to this day.
We are one of the founders of the SEE Legal Group, the leading regional network of independent law firms in Central and Southeast Europe that brings together 12 jurisdictions in their provision of integrated cross-border legal services. Our engagements carried out to date have also been recognized by Lex Mundi, an organization that can certainly be considered the most influential and largest global network of law firms.
We are also involved in the work of other international public associations, as well as several international networks specializing in cooperation in specific areas of law: labour law, insurance law, customs law and general traffic law, as well as intellectual property law, information technology law and privacy law.
